Nail Envy

When the Katy Perry OPI line came out in January, I hopped in my truck and made a trip to every Ulta within in a 25 mile radius. I was never able to get my little hands on my Black Shatter nail polish. They were always sold out. After a few weeks, I gave up. But last week, I found it on EBay for cheaper than in the store so I impulsively purchased a bottle. And my little treasure showed up in my mailbox last week. But, of course, My “wild child” Salon Effects were still going strong. I shouldn’t be sad about it, but I was. I have a new toy now.

see, just one little chip on my thumb from my picking at it!
After much debate, I decided to remove Sally’s genius creation and test out the OPI Black Shatter nail polish. My hair stylist/friend had told me she only liked the Black Shatter with white nail polish underneath or a really bright color. And I had just the thing: cheap-ass Sinful nail color from Walgreens in 24/7 (neon pink). So, off I went.

What do you think? I like it. I just had to make sure I had enough polish on the brush and got a nice, even coat applied to my nail quickly. The polish reacts with the air (obviously!), so you can’t take your sweet time. A thin coat equals small shatters, a thick coat equals larger shatters. I did use the OPI top coat once the black shatters dried, which I would highly recommend. Now I can’t wait to test out the China Glaze Crackle in pink. *insert girly squeals here* What color would you wear under pink crackle?

ps: just [finally] got a facebook…like me?

hello there, thanks for joining me at wandering spice! looking forward to keeping up with your adventures as well.

i like the black shatter effect. actually i think it would be gorgeous with a midnight blue — almost like barely noticeable textured lace on the fingertips.
