I Love Balls

I stumbled across the cutest baking site I’ve ever seen – Bakerella. Bakerella’s Cake Balls look amazing. With my days off coming up (due to being jobless…) I may have to try making my own cake ball concotions. They seem easy enough…though knowing me, I’ll make a hug mess and then not clean it up for a week…anyways…I love the inspiration I found on her website, you can pretty much turn cake balls festive using food coloring and different sprinkles. (I’m thinking Christmas Balls already to impress the future in-laws.) And her pictures showing you step-by-step helps novices like me out tremendously.

I like baking and I LOVE cake, but I can lose my patience very easily if I’m not in the mood to bake. Most of the time I’m just too damn lazy. However, my next list will definately have making cupcake burgers on it. So damn cute!

So, solely after checking out my new favorite baking site, I decided to attempt task #46. Learn how to bake a 3-tiered cake. Now, in my learning process I have realized I was not yet ready for making a tiered cake (because I didn’t even know the difference!), I meant I wanted to make a 3-layered cake. You know the kind with frosting between the layers that looks pretty when you slice it? Yeah, that’s what I meant. So, I spent most of my morning watching the oven. First off, I decided to make a triple chocolate cake. Since I afore stated, I am a beginner. I am using boxed cake mix, not making cake from scratch, of which I can do just not with the amount of time I have today.

My biggest problem was having only one jar of frosting on hand, I had to use it sparingly. And I enjoy my frosting, dammit. Two layers are German Chocolate and the middle layer is Triple Fudge Chocolate. A combination I am unsure of…but hey I’m working with what I got and i’s all chocolate. Now mistake number 1 was forgetting to spray Pam into my cake pan, mistake number 2 was forgetting I meant to put the Fudge layer in the middle before I plopped the 2nd layer on. Oops. All in all the entire cake was an oops experience. I will have to try this again one day when I have more frosting and more time. Good trial run, it still takes like cake, it just doesn’t look very appetizing. I have give negative two stars!

However, #46. Bake a 3-layered cake – Done, just not very well.

I can’t practice too much or I won’t ever lose any weight! Thank goodness for people I can pawn cake off on. Ahem, Boyfriend.

Girl, your cake's a damn good attempt. You can't be too hard on yourself, esp as it's a first shot. I tried to make a layered cake once some years ago and burnt and cut is so badly it was a lopsided mess! Yours looks way more palatable than my first attempt ever did 😉 My greedy self would at least try yours – yum to choc and fudge fillings 🙂

And that Bakerella site is super cute! Looking at it though makes me feel I should go to the dentist. Sugar overload! LOL 🙂

Hi! Saying hi from Mingle Mondays!

I love Bakarella. Make the cake balls. You will not be disappointed. But, set aside like 5 hours to do so. They're quite a little project, but again, totes worth it.

    Love your blog!

Found you through Meg's Mingle Monday!

I'm not much of a baker (I prefer to cook because I don't like following recipes!) but those all look incredible!

Looking forward to reading your blog more 🙂
