Kiss That Hangover Goodbye

I’ve had my fair share of crazy nights. I’ve even had a few nights where I awoke thinking I had the night pieced together and came to find out I was missing majority of the events that took place. Events I would’ve like to have forgotten, but thanks to my friends I will be hearing about for years to come.

Most of us can say we’ve regretted how much we drank as some point. You wake up after a great night feeling like you got hit by a Mack truck. You have such huge bags under your eyes it looks like you have two matching shiners and your once goddess-resembling appearance is transformed into something more closely resembling a zombie. But you had so much planned for the day, you can’t afford to sleep it all away! So what do you do?

Normally I double fist when I drink – one hand is filled with my beverage of choice and the other is grasping a water bottle for dear life. The key to avoiding hangovers is staying hydrated. And don’t forget to eat! On your way home, don’t feel bad hitting up that drive through – you already drank enough calories anyways so just keep going.

And if you still drank enough to warrant waking up to nausea and a headache, thank you because I now have reason to waste an entire post on none other than HANG OVER REMEDIES.

JUICE UP. Replenish your body with fruit juice, Gatorade, or water. Avoid caffeine, this will only dehydrate you further.

EAT YOUR MINERALS. Such as the kind found in pickles, nuts, milk, and fish.

TRY ALKA SELTZER MORNING RELIEF. I have a friend who swears by this, but I haven’t had a hangover recently to verify. Not complaining.

WAKE UP TO A BLOODY MARY. Mix up this drink virgin or with a splash of vodka to nourish your body with vitamins from the tomato juice and kick your hangover back!

What’s your morning-after-drinking savior? Have you ever tried drinking a jar of pickle juice or blending a disgusting smoothie?

Ohhh I hate to say it but my morning after savior is to just start drinking again! heh.

That said…I completely agree with staying hydrated and I always double fist as well…but in more recent years (as in, as I've gotten older) that hasn't been working so well :-/

I'm the queen of wicked hangovers. My go-to remedy is Alka Seltzer Morning relief and/or EmergenC. You're right about the water thing. There's no too much.

    Thanks for the tips!

  3. Lots and lots of water {and excedrin} is what usually helps my head…But my tummy usually feels like crap ALL day no matter what I do.. I'm getting sick just thinking of my last hangover. ha!

  4. I agree. Match the drinking with water and eat something when you get home. It is literally the only way I can crawl out of bed the next day. That and a ton of ibuprofen 🙂 That Alka Seltzer morning relief is ok. I used to use it, but it has caffeine, which only dehydrates you further

I usually am double fisting as well! Margarita in one hand and water in the other. Before I go to bed I guzzle a bottle of water and take an advil and wake up refreshed in the am! Oh, the things you learn when you grow up:)

Oh boy! It seems like there's no cure for the stomach ache, which is what I always end up with. And Sierra – I normally take Advil before I go to sleep too but I've heard conflicting stories about that. Oh well.

  7. Pickles? Who woulda thunk it! I like that. And bananas have all those good electrolytes to get you back on your feet. I usually just have to take a really long nap– that's the only way out for me 🙂

I've heard of taking dramomine with a full glass of water, right before you hit the sack; not only will it make you sleepy, but it makes it so you don't puke your brain out all night; due to the fact that the meds cut off the sensor to that! (yay!) then you wake up in the morning an chug a bottle of water!
I tried this on my birthday and I was fine the next day! :))
